Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain, director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
A letter on the nomination process has been sent to BHU by the Department of Higher Education in the Department of Education, said a BHU spokesperson. Prof. Jain follows Prof. Vijay Kumar Shukla as VHU for BHU.

Padma Shri Award winner, Prof. Jain will hold office for a period of three years from the date he assumes the position of BHU vice-chancellor, in accordance with the rules.
