The center offers a life extension program for ED, CBI directors up to 5 years

The federal government of India has announced two rules for extending the term of office of the directors of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to five years. Currently, the director of the CBI and ED has been appointed for two years in office in terms of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) Act, 2003. The directive states that “although Parliament is absent and the President is satisfied that conditions exist. making it necessary for him to take immediate action.”

President Ram Nath Kovind has given his approval to the bill and the central government is expected to introduce a law in Parliament to replace it. As a new rule, CBI or ED Directors can now be appointed for a first term of two years, and later if necessary, the term of office may be extended for a further three years. But it will require three different seasonal extensions. However, after five years no extension can be given to an ED or CBI official.

Professor Bimal Patel of India has been appointed to the International Law Commission

Professor Bimal Patel of India has been appointed to the International Law Commission for a period of five years. His five-year term will take effect from 1 January 2023. Professor Patel is the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University and a Member of the National Security Advisory Board of India. The 51-year-old Patel received 163 votes in the UN General Assembly out of 192 members. This is the highest number of votes cast by a candidate in the Asia-Pacific Party.

Lewis Hamilton won the 2021 F1 Brazilian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes-Great Britain), won the 2021 F1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix (formerly known as the Brazilian Grand Prix). Max Verstappen (Red Bull – Netherlands) came second and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes-Finland) finished third in the Brazilian Grand Prix 2021. Max Verstappen leads the World Drivers ’Standings with 312.5 points, 19 points from Lewis Hamilton (318.5).

RBI removes restrictions on Diners Club International Limited

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has lifted restrictions imposed on 23 April 2021 and will soon take effect on credit card manufacturer Diners Club International Ltd for new customers. RBI limits Diners Club International Ltd. not to introduce new home customers to the card network from 1 May 2021, due to non-compliance with the RBI on Payment System Data Data. The central bank had barred a US company from entering new home customers on the card network for violating data storage regulations.

South African writer Damon Galgut wins Booker Award

South African playwright and playwright Damon Galgut has won the 2021 Booker Award for “The Promise”, his third short-lived novel about his family from the end of apartheid to the presidency of Jacob Zuma. Over the past few decades, the book reflects the growing family tensions as the country enters democracy.

Mr. Galgut took the award for the third time as the last of a book, which judges judge “tour de force.” He was previously listed as “The Good Doctor” in 2003 and “In The Strange Room” in 2010, but lost both times.
